In September 2021, Andreas seized the opportunity to become an Account Manager at FCM, eager to re-enter the travel industry post-pandemic. Without hesitation, he embraced the role with a fresh outlook and renewed enthusiasm.
Andreas’ passion for the travel and tourism sector began when he was only 15 working in hotels. This naturally led him to explore the hospitality industry before finally deciding that working in travel is where he belongs.
“What sets the travel industry apart is the fellowship and warmth we share as colleagues. Whether you’re working in the same company or across different companies globally, it’s this amazing sense of community I haven’t found anywhere else. That’s what makes this role super special for me.”
Motivated by the feeling of living abroad and understanding different societies, a year into his role, Andreas was presented with the perfect opportunity to move to Denmark to explore the market there, which is where he remains today.
Andreas says whether you’re working in customer service, a hotel, or account management, it is about delivering that ‘intangible feeling’ for customers.
“Being able to contribute value to a customer or colleague is the greatest affirmation and reward,” says Andreas.
Speaking on what he loves about working at FCM Travel and the wider Flight Centre Travel Group, Andreas says it’s the opportunities to make connections across borders that come alongside working for a global company.
“Our vision to ‘open up the world for those who want to see’ speaks for itself,” says Andreas.
“To those who have just begun their career at FCTG: connect with your colleagues in foreign markets when given the opportunity.”
Proud to be FCTG! Andreas pictured showing off his Fight Centre Travel Group merchandise like a true Flightie.
Andreas is also proud of how FCTG fosters the development and growth of its younger employees. With its diverse brands, departments, and roles, FCTG offers endless opportunities for career advancement, inspired by our "Brightness of Future" philosophy.
All our people are empowered to create their Brightness of Future pathway and have access to resources, tools and mentorship opportunities to get there.
“There isn’t any feeling of a strict hierarchy or a sense of being in a box of a huge corporation,” states Andreas.
At FCTG, we believe that having a flat hierarchy creates an environment that promotes collaboration and transparency. Everyone is accessible - from senior leaders to executives - and there are no personal assistants or bureaucracy. Our open-door policy means that our employees have direct access to the decision-makers, creating a culture of inclusion and innovation. We strive to ensure that everyone in the organisation is heard, regardless of their experience level or seniority in the company.
We can’t wait to see Andreas excel in his new role, as he shares his knowledge and enthusiasm with his colleagues in Denmark.
