Ryan's Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) journey began in 2010 as a Travel Consultant, and little did he know what incredible adventure awaited him, spanning 13 years and counting.
Ryan’s career began in the bustling Queensway Flight Centre store in west London before deciding it was time for a change of scenery, in more ways than one. In 2012, he traded the city life for the vibrant streets of Bristol, embarking on a new role as a Consultant for FCM.
Ryan quickly soared through the corporate ranks, accelerating to Team Manager after only two years. It was during this time, Ryan emerged as a strong leader, growing customer accounts from small to medium enterprise volume to over £25m accounts. In 2016, Ryan returned to London as General Manager of FCM, where he led his area to global success, winning numerous awards along the way.
After eight years in operations, Ryan transitioned to Implementations, a function dedicated to supporting the streamlined and effective onboarding of new clients. Not long after, Ryan took on the global lead role and was responsible for implementing 350 customers in just two years, whilst navigating the challenges of a global pandemic. Ryan’s hard work and tenacity was recognised both regionally and on a global scale, winning the Directors Award in Europe, a global award at our Global Gathering event in Las Vegas and the Most Transformational Award at the global FCM conference in Rio.
“I was honoured to receive an award onstage at our Global Gathering in Vegas. To be recognised for our efforts during an extremely challenging time for the business as a whole was a testament to the hard work that my global teams put in,” reflects Ryan.

In April of this year, ready to take on his next challenge, Ryan became Director of Customer Operations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Back working in the operational side of the business, Ryan’s new role focuses on integrating key platforms and systems and driving a consistent customer experience across the region.
As he settles into his new position, Ryan is most excited about the new challenges his role brings every day.
“There is so much opportunity in operations working across a very diverse market with all markets having their own nuances,” he says.
For anyone just starting out their career at FCTG, Ryan advises to always keep an open mind towards new opportunities.
“You never know what path your career might take. Often it is the challenges that bring you most out of your comfort zone that turn out to be the most rewarding,” says Ryan.
“If someone would have told me when I started that I would spend the next 13 years in the same company, I would have laughed. However, now, if someone said that in another 13 years I wouldn’t be working at FCTG I would think it equally comical!”

Ryan’s continued tenure is due in large part to the company culture and the people he works with, however, it is also the pride that everyone takes in their work that has pushed him to do the same along the way.
