How to Combine Your Love of Travel with Work

“Do what you love, and you'll never work another day in your life” - for me, there’s never been truer a statement, and I think most people would agree that combining your passion with your work is a good idea. It makes you want to stay longer with a company and develop connections with your colleagues along the way. Working with others who have a similar career mindset and long-term vision doesn’t just make the day-to-day more enjoyable, it’s also a constant source of inspiration.

Here’s a glimpse at how I get to combine my love of travel with work at Flight Centre.

Working at Flight Centre, I can continually grow my knowledge of the world

The amount I’ve learned about different countries and places since I’ve started here is at least ten times more than what I would have learned in a classroom. Any role in my team really allows you to learn about and explore all these little and sometimes unexpected places that you may not have even heard of.

You really get a feel for what it’s like to experience these places and how to go about enjoying a holiday there, filling your days as best as possible. I love guiding my clients through out the ins and outs of getting around and interacting with locals, experiencing by proxy some of what they will see there. It also gives me great ideas for my own trips!

It allows me to be part of a fantastic team and do what I really enjoy - working with people

It’s incredibly satisfying to be part of a team of people who all have a passion for travel. Our shared interests and goals mean that we’re all on the same page when it comes to servicing customers and meeting our targets while making time to bounce ideas off each other and have a bit of fun. We’ve all had different travel experiences and each bring our own take to problem-solving, which helps us thrive as a team.

Two years into working for Flight Centre and I’m still loving it. I recently made Assistant Team Leader in the Flight Centre Queen St Mall Hyper store in Brisbane. It was so inspiring to see my leaders’ faith in me and have them encourage me to take that next step.

I’ve never felt stagnant at Flight Centre – there’s always an exciting opportunity around the corner! And this is only made better by the diversity of our team and our awesome culture.
